Cross Text Connections is a Grade 10 ELA Reading and Viewing worksheet focused on making connections across texts. Students work with a reading passage and respond to questions and written tasks that keep their attention on how ideas can be connected through reading.

Reading Across Texts

The resource centers on cross-text connections, giving students a focused context for thinking about relationships between texts. The activity combines selected-response questions with written responses, allowing students to demonstrate their thinking in more than one way while working with the lesson topic.

Students encounter multiple-choice and true-or-false questions alongside short-answer work. An essay provides an opportunity for a more developed written response, while a short-note activity gives students a concise format for recording their thinking about cross-text connections. A reading passage provides the reading context for the worksheet activities.

Classroom Use

This reading worksheet can be used during a Grade 10 Reading and Viewing lesson when the focus is on connecting ideas across texts. The combination of question formats gives teachers a single resource for guided classroom practice, independent written work, or a lesson activity centered on reading and responding.

Selected-response tasks can be used to check students' reading of the material and their work with cross-text connections. Short answers require students to put their thinking into their own words, while the essay provides space for a longer written response. The short-note activity offers another concise way to record ideas, and the Student Notes lines provide additional space for students to write notes during the activity.
