Evidence Based Support gives Grade 7 ELA students focused writing practice with a range of tasks built around supporting ideas with evidence. Created for a writing lesson within an Alberta framework, this worksheet combines selected-response questions, short written responses, reading, and essay writing.

Focused Practice in Evidence Based Support

The resource centres on evidence based support as a writing topic. Students encounter multiple-choice questions and true-or-false statements that provide opportunities to work with the lesson content before moving into short-answer writing. A reading passage adds a text-based component, while an essay gives students an opportunity to apply the topic through extended writing.

Included in the Worksheet

• Multiple-choice questions
• True-or-false questions
• Short-answer responses
• A reading passage
• An essay writing task
• A short-note task
• Student Notes lines at the bottom of the worksheet

Ways to Use It

This Grade 7 writing worksheet can be used during an ELA lesson, as independent classroom practice, or as a review activity. The combination of question formats allows teachers to use the resource for different stages of a writing lesson without requiring students to complete only one type of response.

The reading passage and essay component also create a progression from responding to focused questions toward producing a longer written response. Student Notes lines at the bottom provide dedicated space for learners to record notes connected with the lesson.

A Practical Addition to Grade 7 ELA Writing

For teachers working on evidence based support, this worksheet brings several response modes together in one writing-focused resource. Students read, select responses, answer in their own words, take notes, and complete an essay, giving the teacher a flexible way to practise the topic across different forms of written work.

Its Grade 7 ELA focus and Alberta framework make it suitable for teachers who need a straightforward classroom worksheet centred specifically on evidence based support and writing practice.
