Overview

---

Grade 6 Holiday resources aligned to the May framework help students make connections between cultural traditions, community contributions, and science-informed ways of thinking. This lesson bundle includes 3 worksheet activities designed to support reading-to-learn, evidence-based responses, and classroom discussion. Use them to strengthen a student’s ability to reason from information while exploring how holidays reflect identity and shared human experiences.

What’s Included

---

• ✅ 6th Grade Holiday Awareness | Celebrating AAPI Contributions Worksheet – Students identify key ideas about AAPI contributions and respond with text-based explanations.
• ✅ Grade 6 Holiday Cultural Traditions Worksheet – May (PDF) – Learners practice interpreting details about holiday traditions and organizing their thinking around the May framework.
• ✅ 6th Grade Holiday | AAPI Heritage Origins Worksheet PDF – Students trace central origins concepts and write short, evidence-supported reflections.

Skills & Standards

---

Built for May framework routines, these worksheets emphasize crosscutting concepts such as patterns (how traditions repeat across communities), cause and effect (what influences cultural practices), and systems thinking (how people, places, and histories connect). Students also engage with disciplinary core ideas (where relevant to your unit context) through structured reading, observation of informational text, and discussion prompts that foreground science practices. Activities incorporate modeling by providing clear response formats and exemplars for analytical reasoning, helping students move from claims to evidence-based explanations. Across the bundle, learners practice using information from the worksheets to support reasoning, revise answers, and produce concise, evidence-based responses that match grade-level expectations.

Perfect For

---

• Teachers seeking structured instruction
• Sub plans
• Homework or review
• Intervention or centers
• Assessment preparation

How to Use

---

As a lesson bundle, you can complete the 3 worksheets over multi-day pacing: Day 1 for background reading and a first evidence-based response, Day 2 for comparing tradition details and strengthening analytical reasoning, and Day 3 for a final reflection that synthesizes origins or contributions. Consider using one worksheet as a teacher-modeled read-aloud followed by guided practice, then assigning the next worksheet in pairs or small groups for accountable talk. For centers, place the worksheets in rotation with a simple evidence checklist (claim, evidence, explanation) and quick conferencing prompts. If you need sub plan readiness, keep the response organizer consistent so students know how to proceed even with minimal guidance.
