Interpreting charts is the focus of this Grade 7 ELA reading and viewing worksheet, giving students structured practice with a specific reading skill. The resource is presented within an Alberta framework and provides varied ways for students to respond to the lesson topic.

Working With Charts

Students practice interpreting charts through multiple-choice questions, true-or-false statements, short-answer responses, a reading passage, an essay task, and a short-note activity. These response formats give learners opportunities to work with the topic through selected responses, brief written answers, passage-based practice, and extended writing.

• True-or-false questions for checking responses
• Short-answer questions for written practice
• A reading passage connected to the lesson focus

Reading and Viewing Classroom Use

This Grade 7 reading worksheet can be incorporated into reading and viewing instruction when interpreting charts is part of the lesson focus. Teachers can use it for classroom practice, independent work, or review. The range of response formats allows students to demonstrate their work in both selected-response and written forms.

Focused Skill Practice

The resource keeps attention on chart interpretation rather than combining unrelated reading topics. The reading passage provides an opportunity to apply the lesson focus in a reading context, while the short-answer, essay, and short-note activities create space for students to produce written responses. Student Notes lines at the bottom provide additional room for recording notes.

Use this interpreting charts worksheet as part of Grade 7 ELA reading and viewing instruction when students need focused practice with chart interpretation in a structured worksheet format.
