Literary and Informational Comprehension is a Grade 10 ELA worksheet for Reading and Viewing that gives students practice working with literary and informational comprehension through a combination of selected-response and written-response tasks.

Comprehension Practice Across Two Text Types

The resource centers on literary and informational comprehension, giving students opportunities to respond to reading material through different forms of questions and writing. A reading passage provides the text-based foundation for the work, while the accompanying questions ask students to demonstrate their comprehension through multiple-choice, true-or-false, and short-answer responses.

The resource also moves beyond brief responses with an essay and a short-note activity. This creates a useful mix of concise comprehension checks and more developed written responses within the same Reading and Viewing resource.

Ways to Use the Resource

This Grade 10 reading comprehension worksheet can be used during a Reading and Viewing lesson when students need focused practice with literary and informational comprehension. The varied response formats allow a teacher to move from selected responses to short written answers and then to longer-form writing without requiring separate resources for each activity type.

The reading passage can anchor the classroom activity, while the multiple-choice and true-or-false questions provide opportunities for direct comprehension practice. Short-answer responses, the essay, and the short-note task give students additional space to communicate their responses in writing.
