Natural Selection Worksheets for Grade 6 Science focus on how variation, inherited traits, environmental pressures, survival, reproduction, and generations can change trait frequencies within populations. Designed around the lesson topic Biological Evolution: Unity and Diversity, this resource gives students multiple ways to work with the core ideas of natural selection.

What Students Explore

Students examine how variation occurs within populations and how inherited traits can affect survival and reproduction. The lesson connects natural selection to changing trait frequencies over generations and uses examples involving bird beak shapes, environmental pressures such as pollution, and antibiotic resistance in microbial populations.

Student Practice

The worksheet combines a reading passage with multiple-choice questions, true-or-false statements, short-answer responses, a labeled diagram, a categorization activity, and a short notes section. This mix allows students to identify key ideas, explain relationships, apply concepts to examples, and organize information about natural selection.

Teacher Support

The resource includes Student Notes lines at the bottom of the worksheet. An Answer Key PDF includes a Teacher Guide with learning objectives, teaching tips, discussion questions, and common mistakes to support instruction and review.

Classroom Use

Use this Grade 6 evolution worksheet as guided class practice, independent work, a lesson review, or a science assessment activity. The reading passage can introduce the topic before students move into questions and application tasks, while the Teacher Guide provides discussion and instructional support.

Curriculum Connection

The resource details identify NGSS as the applicable standard/framework. The content centers on biological evolution concepts related to population variation, inherited traits, environmental pressures, survival and reproduction, and changes in trait frequencies over generations.
