Reading Graphs and Charts gives Grade 6 Computer Science students focused practice interpreting visual data in the context of Data and Information. Students work with bar graphs, line graphs, and pictographs while learning how titles, labels, scales, units, categories, and keys affect accurate interpretation.

What Students Practice

• Identify common graph and chart types and describe what each display shows.
• Compare categories and values using information presented visually.
• Read titles, labels, scales, units, and keys carefully before interpreting data.
• Recognize patterns and use evidence from graphs and charts to support conclusions.

Activities Included

The worksheet combines a dialogue, matching activity, cloze passage, labeled diagram, reading passage, multiple-choice questions, true-or-false questions, short-answer responses, and an extended-response task. The reading passage explains categories, bar graphs, line graphs, pictographs, keys, scales, units, and the importance of checking equal intervals before comparing values.

Classroom Use

Use this Grade 6 data interpretation worksheet for classroom practice, independent work, review, or a lesson on reading graphs and charts. Students apply the concepts directly by identifying suitable graph types, interpreting displayed information, making comparisons, identifying patterns, and explaining how evidence supports a conclusion.

Teacher Support

A separate Teacher Guide PDF accompanies the worksheet and includes learning objectives, teaching tips, discussion questions, and common mistakes. This provides practical support for introducing graph-reading concepts and addressing errors students may make when interpreting visual data.
