Strong Passwords and Account Security is a Grade 5 Computer Science resource focused on digital citizenship and safe online account practices. Students examine what makes passwords difficult to guess, why different passwords should be used for different accounts, how to protect login details, and how authentication helps control account access.

What Students Practice

The resource connects password safety to practical account-security decisions. Students explore the use of varied characters such as letters, numbers, and symbols, the risks of reusing passwords across accounts, keeping login details private, and the role of authentication in checking whether someone is allowed to access an account.

Activities include a dialogue, matching task, cloze passage, labeled diagram, reading passage, multiple-choice questions, true-or-false statements, short responses, and an extended response. The reading component gives students a clear context for applying account-security concepts to everyday online sign-ins.

Teacher-Ready Support

• Student worksheet covering password strength, password reuse, private login details, and authentication
• Teacher Guide provided as a separate PDF
• Teacher Guide includes learning objectives, teaching tips, discussion questions, and common mistakes

Classroom Use

Use this digital citizenship worksheet for direct instruction, guided practice, independent work, or review of safe account-security habits. The combination of reading, selected-response, short-response, and extended-response tasks gives students multiple ways to demonstrate their understanding of strong passwords and secure login behavior.

This resource is useful for teaching password safety, account security, and authentication while helping Grade 5 learners connect computer science concepts to responsible online choices.
