Synthesis connections are the focus of this Grade 7 ELA reading and viewing worksheet, giving students structured practice with the central topic named in the resource. Designed within an Alberta framework, the worksheet keeps the work centered on reading and viewing while providing varied ways for students to respond.

What Students Practice

The resource focuses specifically on synthesis connections and uses several response formats to give students opportunities to work with the topic in different ways. Students encounter multiple-choice questions, true-or-false statements, short-answer responses, a reading passage, an essay task, and a short-note response. These formats move beyond a single style of questioning and provide opportunities for both selected and written responses.

What’s Included

• Multiple-choice questions focused on synthesis connections
• True-or-false questions for checking understanding
• Short-answer questions requiring written responses
• A reading passage for applied reading practice
• An essay task connected to the lesson topic
• A short-note activity
• Student Notes lines at the bottom of the worksheet

Classroom Use

This Grade 7 reading worksheet can be used alongside reading and viewing instruction when students are working with synthesis connections. The combination of objective and written response formats makes it suitable for structured classroom practice, independent work, or review. The reading passage provides an opportunity to apply the lesson focus within a reading context, while the essay and short-answer sections give students space to produce their own responses.

Why This Resource Fits

Teachers get a focused ELA practice resource built around one clearly identified lesson topic rather than a broad collection of unrelated reading skills. The varied question types allow students to approach synthesis connections through recognition, brief written responses, passage-based work, and extended writing. Student Notes lines at the bottom also provide dedicated space for recording notes during or after the activity.

Use this synthesis connections worksheet as part of Grade 7 ELA reading and viewing lessons when students need focused practice with the topic in a structured worksheet format.
